Spring report

I had mixed results on the performance of last year's shrubs, which are growing in my aunt's new garden where I amended the horrid subdivision soil (if it can be called soil) as best I could, and where most of the perennials and trees I planted are looking very healthy and happy.

Both the Buddleia and Syringa came through with flying colours. Lots of blooms on the lilac and the butterfly bush is looking leafy and vigorous, so I suspect there'll be lots of tiny blooms later in the season. The Hibiscus Blue Chiffon is looking sad, though. It barely came throught the winter, even though other rose of Sharons I had planted in the garden survived without so much as a shiver. As for the hydrangea, hmm, I'm still looking for signs of life...
