Here are the comments on the 2009 trial plants.

Weigela florida Ghost has doubled in size over the summer but no blooms at all this season. At first I thought the plants needed fertilizer but then clued in that the foliage is supposed to be pale.

Hyrangea arborescens Incrediball - the stems are not strong, they flop along the ground reaching for more light so I guess part shade is not good enough. No blooms this year.

Hydrangea arborescens Invincible Spirit - only moderate growth and a few weak flowers...next season will be the real test.

Buddleia Miss Ruby- Vigorous growth , lots of deep vibrant blooms ... but will it overwinter? Lo &Behold from 2008 did not survive the winter.

Blue Chiffon Hibiscus - one plant bloomed well but find it is a very slow grower- not much larger from when planted in 2008.

Boomerrang dwarf lilac - the surviving plant from 2008 bloomed spring and again in September here in Montreal. Shape of plant is not uniform but larger than last season. Plant does not make a big impact in a large garden.

Let's Dance Moonlight hydrangea - happy with the 2 plants ...nice bright blooms, grew vigorously early in the season but sure did not like dry spell late August to mid September.
I must water when dry... will try mulch also.
